Our kits have been designed around our different cottons and silks.
Each kit shows off the fabric in a sympathetic and attractive way.
New kits will be added as new fabrics are imported.

Moonlight
Wall Hanging

Strips of shijira indigo dyed cotton are simply arranged to picture moonlight on water. Shijira is a speciality fabric from Tokushima on the island of Shikoku in the Inland Sea of Japan where the growing of indigo has a long history. In Japan shijira cotton is often used to make unlined, cool, summer kimono (yukata).

Noshi

Wall Hanging or Cushion

Needleturn appliqué

Noshi is an auspicious bow decoration often used on formal gifts at weddings,
New Year presents and on offerings at temples and shrines. Nowadays it is usually made out of paper but long ago the original noshi were made out of dried abalone. Most noshi are bright colours giving us a feeling of celebration.

The instructions are for the traditional appliqué method. If you prefer to use freezer paper, please follow your usual method.

Hyaku Toku Kimono

Using bright cottons in traditional patterns this wallhanging was inspired by children's patchwork kimono made up from (supposedly 100 !) scraps given by family, friends and neighbours .
